Handball

Overview

Kevin’s played handball in it’s earlier years and up until the 1930s when unfortunately the sport fell away. We re-introduced handball as part of a healthy club initiative prior to the COVID pandemic and after very positive feedback from the children who took part we decided to continue after lockdown restrictions were lifted. All are welcome, but we primarily play One Wall and 40 X 20 and our focus is on underage.

We hold regular Friday night sessions in the TK2 Centre, Charlemont Street from September to March with some trips to the handball alleys in Croke Park and other locations between October and March.

We held our own 40X20 club tournament in December 2024 and entered into the Dublin tournaments at Under 10, 11 and 12. We are also partnering with other clubs in Dublin to host a Dublin Handball Development Day in January 2025 which is based on the Go-Games model already in place for hurling and football. This event is open to all. While we do intend to enter into competition, handball can also be played socially so there is no pressure to enter competitive tournaments.

We also organise teacher training for schools interested and a number of schools entered into the Cumann nA mBunscoil 40X20 event in 2024. Feedback was very positive from all involved. If your school would like to hear more please don’t hesitate to contact us.

We are also keen to hear from anyone with handball experience to help us develop the sport in the club! If you are interested in hearing more, please get in contact. You can check out our picture gallery below to get a better idea of our handball activities to date.

Our Teams and Contacts

Kevins will be prioritising boys and girls aged between 10-13 years in 2025.

If your child is outside of these age groups but has a keen interest please get in touch as we we do have a few up and coming younger siblings who join in!
