Hurling and Camogie Club

The Bright Summer Nights Are Here!

The good weather has broken out and we took advantage with a busy week-end of underage hurling and camogie with some some rounders thrown in to add some diversity to the mix. But first thanks to all the volunteers who helped out with the 5KM road race in the Phoenix Park, as for every volunteer from the club results in much needed funds being raised for the running of the club.

Our Go Games teams were all in action! While our 8s and 9s hurlers were at home, our under 10s had their first trip north of the Liffey and travelled to the Phoenix Park to take on St Oliver Plunkett’s / Eoghan Ruadh. Our under 11s were further up the road in John Paul Park taking on Naomh Fionbarra. Many thanks to our home referees who kept our games games going so well. We also have reports of parents who have transitioned from the side-line to putting on the referees jersey (after formal training) over the week-end! This is a really important role as without referees we don’t have games.

Our under 12 hurlers had a good win against our neighbours Good Counsel / Liffey Gaels yesterday in the league in Dolphin Park and the under 12 girls hosted Erin’s Isle and had 2 great battles winning and loosing  one. Our Under 13 and 14 girls are still on a roll! The under 13s had a 5 point win over Thomas Davis and the under 14s beat Lucan Sarsfield A by 2 points in a top of the table clash! Both sides top their respective league tables! Check the tables out on twitter here.

In Rounder news our under 12s had their second game on Friday night, loosing to the more experienced Swords while our Senior Mixed and Intermediate Ladies both won their home ties against Michael Glaveys of Roscommon. This places our ladies on top of their  Intermediate league and the Mixed team are also well positioned in second place, but with two very tough games ahead!

We have lovely bright nights, so what’s coming up? We have lots of games you can pop up to over the coming days. Our adult hurlers are in action this week. Our AHL4 side play Lucan Sarsfields away on Wednesday at 8.15 pm and are at home on Saturday against St Marks at 6.15 pm. Our AHL7 side are playing tomorrow night at home against St Patrick’s (Donabate) at 7.15 pm Dolphin Park. Our Minor camogie squad are also in action tomorrow night in a local derby against Crumlin at 6.30 pm in Pearse Park. We are also planning a Fun Day for the Club this Sunday the 28th May. More details here! As always we will be looking for volunteers for 2 hours.

Are you interested in social games? We are back partnering with St James Gaels on the social hurling for parents interested in learning the skills or retired hurlers looking for a bit of exercise. We have social rounders for both men and women and there are also plans to establish social camogie in the coming weeks. Contact pro.kevins.dublin@gaa.ie for more information.

Finally if you have club news or would like to have your team photos, match results, or reports etc mentioned please contact pro.kevins.dublin@gaa.ie. If you haven’t already, please ensure your team has a representative in the PR & Comms Group so we have the correct updates for matches, changes to matches and other updates etc. The majority of updates we receive get posted on our social media, but if you don’t send them in they don’t get posted.
