Junior A’s Through to Quarter Finals

Our Junior A hurlers had another good win on Sunday beating St Mark’s away in Mc Gee Park. The final score of 1-10 to 10 points puts our 1st team into the quarter finals in 3rd position behind Commercials and Good Counsel/ Liffey Gaels. As Cuala beat Skerries Harps they take the 4th quarter-final spot from Group 2. You can find the league tables and results here. In Group 1 Lucan Sarsfields had a big win over St Vincents to take top spot undefeated and St Peregrines had a narrow 1 pt victory over Ballinteer St John’s to take 2nd spot. St Patrick’s Palmerstown rec’d a walkover from Realt Dearg which places them in 3rd, with Ballinteer St John’s taking the 4th spot. Kevin’s will play St Peregrines in the quarter final stages on 25th September in Blakestown. Throw in at 11am.

In other championship news our 2nd hurling team and camogs were defeated on Sunday and our Junior G game was called off due to the pitch being unplayable after the torrential downpour over the week-end.

It was a very busy Saturday for our Under 8-12 hurlers with teams hosting and travelling. The big game of the day was our Under 12s who had a serious battle on their hands with Ballinteer St John’s in Dolphin Park. Ballinteer lead by 1-0 to 0-00 at half time, but our boys battled hard in the 2nd half and took full points with a full time score of 1-3 to 1-0. This leaves them unbeaten and joint top of their league. However, they must travel to Deerpark on the 24th September to take on the only other unbeaten side which is Kilmacud Crokes.

We are in championship action again next week-end. This time it will be Rounders! Our Mixed team are in the Intermediate All-Ireland Mixed final starting at 11 am and our Ladies are in the Junior final. Pitch in is at 3.30 pm. Both games are in the GAA’s National Games Development campus in Abbottstown and it’s all ticket affair. Under 16s and OAPs are free. Tickets must be purchased online in advance. Click here for tickets.

We would love to add a GAA Rounders title to our only other All-Ireland success which is an Etihad Club of The Year from 2014! Check out our winning presentation on You Tube. While our Under 12 girls reached an All-Ireland final last year in Rounders and took the Under 13 Shield title this year, our adults have never won an All-Ireland on the field of play, In fact this is the first adult All-Ireland final the club has reached since it was established in 1902. This is a big day for the club as our inter-county success is sparse. We have had Leinster Club Hurling league success in recent years, but from a championship perspective our biggest milestone is when the Intermediate hurlers reached the Leinster Club Junior Hurling final in 2002. Previous to then we have to look back to 1910 when the club represented Dublin in the Leinster Junior Hurling Championship and made the semi-final stages, only to be beaten by Laois at Jones Road.
