Kevin’s Killer Blow

Our Under 13 hurlers finally got their season underway with an away game in Porterstown against Castleknock.
The two sides came out battling hard with some nice hurling on display. Castleknock got a few fortuitous goals, but we got a lovely one of our own courtesy of Matthew O’Connor. Despite the reply we went in trailing by 2 points at half time. The second half did not start so good and we were soon trailing by 10 points from some very good series of play by Castleknock and from the sidelines it looked like it was not going to be pretty for us. However, our lads on pitch had other ideas and never lost heart.
They battled and harassed Castleknock for every ball and worked together as a unit to get back into the game and with a stunning last play of the game, a goal from Harry secured us a 6-7 to 5-4 victory.  It was a rollercoaster of a match to watch and good to see improvements in every player on the pitch along with the “never give up” Kevins spirit.
Well done to all the players with a special mention to Sonny Wakefield and Matthew Boyle who grabbed some brilliant scores. Alfie McCarron, Karl and Luke Feeley were superb in defence with Pearse Roche and Alex Chilton rotating between the posts. While Harry Gavin was outstanding throughout, Sean Nix and Tom Greenan provided a master class in the middle of the park.
Many thanks to JBD Construction for the jersey sponsorship.
