Our Under 13 Camogie girls made light of their recent regrading up to Division 4 with a keenly contested win at Naomh Peregrines at Clonsilla on Tuesday evening.
After conceding a brace of points early on, the girls took a firm grip of the game as the first half progressed. Kevins reached the halftime break 3-1 to 0-3 in front, and could have been further ahead with a more accurate return in front of the posts. Peregrines, who had also been regraded up to Division 4, proved to be tenacious opposition however. They fought back in the third quarter to narrow the deficit to a single point. The Kevins girls dug deep however to turn the tide in the final quarter, scoring an unanswered 3-2 to run out clear winners by 7-4 to 3-4. Score of the game was a superb overhead volley from full forward Tess Waddle. The scoreline does not reflect the closeness of the contest however. While there were some fine individual performances, it was the collective spirit and commitment throughout the team as a whole that delivered this hard fought win.
